The Cathedral in Vieste May Be the One Must See
The Cathedral of Vieste is one of the most sought after sightseeing destination not only in Vieste but in the whole area of Puglia. Combining breathtaking architecture, amazing stories, and intriguing history, this sightseeing destination offers something for everyone, whether you are traveling alone, as a couple, or as a family. In fact, the Vieste Cathedral can even be quite interesting to younger children though they may have trouble with the more formal and longer tours. Whether you save your trip to the Cathedral for a day where the weather does not support as many outdoor activities, or you make the trip on a day where you will do many other activities as well, you will be happy you took the time to see this piece of history
The Vieste Cathedral was built in the Seventh Century, near the castle. During that time these two central places were major parts of the Vieste culture, but unfortunately the castle is no longer in pristine shape. The cathedral is still in great shape, having been carefully maintained by the people of Vieste and surrounding areas. The Basilica of the Vieste Cathedral has a classic layout with one nave and two aisles so it will seem both familiar and wonderful to those who worship in similar places around the globe.. Beautiful pillars divide the two rows.
Outside the cathedral there is a wonderful belfry, and the whole tower is in the shape of a bishop’s hat. The entire castle is great to look at, built generally in a roman style but quite uniquely part of the architecture of this part of Italy.
